Multiple Greek Lutes
A concert in tribute to Flores Chaviano (1946), recipient of the 2018 Ignacio Cervantes Medal, the CCCNY’s lifetime achievement award for excellence in classical music. Mr. Chaviano has excelled as composer, guitarist, professor and orchestral conductor. His works, as well as his performances with the guitar or the baton, continue to gather accolades, and he is one of the most highly regarded contemporary Cuban musicians today. His compositions and arrangements will be interpreted by Olan’p Orquesta Langreana de Plectro, the critically acclaimed Spanish lute orchestra from Asturias, featuring soprano Paula Lueje and classical guitarists Santi Basante, Seila González and Dimas Coalla, under the artistic direction of renowned conductors Óscar Allen and Manuel Paz.

The program will include some of Maestro Chaviano’s signature works, as well as a world premiere.
