Mission Statement

El Centro Cultural Cubano es una institución sin ánimo de lucro, no partidista, fundada por cubanos exiliados para preservar, desarrollar y difundir la rica herencia cultural cubana y cubanoamericana dentro de un marco democrático de independencia y libertad, ajeno a todo totalitarismo, valores que nos fueron legados por nuestros próceres desde el siglo XIX.

El Centro Cultural Cubano se constituye, de manera permanente, como símbolo y orgullo de la nación cubana, para el disfrute de los miembros de nuestra generación y de las generaciones venideras, aun después que Cuba se reintegre al concierto de naciones libres y democráticas del mundo.

El Centro Cultural Cubano se ubica en Nueva York, en especial reconocimiento a la gran ciudad que por casi dos siglos, en diversas ocasiones, ha servido de refugio a los cubanos exiliados en lucha por la libertad de su patria, y de hogar a algunos de los forjadores de nuestra nacionalidad.

Entre las actividades a desplegar por el Centro Cultural Cubano se cuentan las siguientes:

1. Divulgar, mediante la organización de conferencias, seminarios, exhibiciones,     conciertos, publicaciones y otros medios de difusión, el más genuino legado cultural cubano en sus diversos aspectos de las artes plásticas, literatura, música, danza, cine, teatro, arquitectura, urbanismo, historia, folclore y otras manifestaciones culturales.

    2. Estimular la creación artística e intelectual mediante la promoción de actividades culturales, certámenes, premios y becas.

    3. Alentar y fomentar los estudios e investigaciones en torno a las múltiples facetas de la cultura cubana.

    4. Elaborar un inventario de las creaciones artísticas, literarias e intelectuales de la nación cubana, principalmente en el destierro, para las generaciones venideras y el patrimonio cultural de Cuba.

5. Servir de centro de información y referencia en Nueva York y los Estados Unidos para todos los interesados en los diversos aspectos de la cultura cubana y cubanoamericana.

6. Denunciar las violaciones y persecuciones contra el ejercicio de la libertad intelectual y los derechos humanos de los escritores y artistas cubanos.

7. Apoyar la disidencia cultural en Cuba contra todo régimen que inhiba o reprima la libre expresión de la cultura.

8. Atraer toda posible ayuda económica fidedigna, individual o corporativa, para lograr los objetivos mencionados.

Las normas reglamentarias que se dicten para la organización y funcionamiento del Centro Cultural Cubano reflejarán fielmente el cumplimiento de estos principios.

The Cuban Cultural Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution founded by Cuban exiles to preserve, develop, and disseminate our rich Cuban and Cuban-American cultural heritage within a democratic framework of freedom and autonomy, alien to totalitarian ideologies, values handed down to us by our founding fathers since the 19^th Century.

The Cuban Cultural Center is founded, on a permanent basis, as a symbol and credit to the Cuban people for the enjoyment of current and future generations, even after Cuba rejoins the community of free and democratic nations of the world.

The Cuban Cultural Center is located in New York City, in special acknowledgment of the great metropolis which for almost two centuries has been haven to Cuban exiles involved in the struggle for their country’s freedom and home to some of the founding fathers of our national character.

Among its activities, the Cuban Cultural Center will:

1.      Disseminate, through conferences, seminars, exhibitions, concerts, publications, and other events, the most genuine Cuban cultural legacy in the arts, literature, music, dance, film, theater, architecture, urban planning, history, folklore, and other cultural expressions.

2.      Stimulate artistic and intellectual creativity by promoting cultural activities, festivals, awards, and scholarships.

3.      Encourage and sponsor studies and research on varied facets of Cuban culture.

4.      Compile an inventory of artistic, literary, and intellectual works of the Cuban nation, with an emphasis on those created outside Cuba, for future generations and Cuba’s cultural legacy.

5.      Serve as a center of information and reference to all in New York City and the United States who may be interested in the different aspects of Cuban and Cuban-American culture.

6.      Condemn the harassment of Cuban writers and artists and/or any violations of their intellectual freedom and human rights.

7.      Support cultural dissidents in Cuba against any regime that inhibits or represses the free exercise of cultural expression.

8.      Attract bona fide financial support, whether individual or corporate, to attain the aforementioned goals.

The by-laws of the organization and operations of the Cuban Cultural Center will faithfully abide by these principles.
