Guido A. Betancourt
La Llegada36"x48", Acrylic on canvas, 2007
Guido A. Betancourt Statement “I consider the very main thrust of my art work to be very imaginative and gratifying. When faced with a blank canvas, I wish immediately to bring it to life, wanting to make it warm and rich – attractive with lines, shapes, forms and colors while adding refinement and harmony to an empty space that was cold and lifeless.”
Personal Guido A. Betancourt was born in Cuba on April 30, 1932. In many of his paintings, we can appreciate the use of architectural motives which stem from his studies of architecture at the University of Havana, Cuba. He came to the United States in 1967 and went first to California for a few months and then to NY for 11 years, and finally, he settled down in Miami Beach in 1980, where he now dedicates full time to painting. Besides finding architectural motives in his work, we also find tropical fruits, exuberant vegetation, brilliant skies and beautiful beaches as part of his baroque compositions which are both full of exultant colors and inner harmony.
